Anthem Blue Cross Therapist in California
Anthem Blue Cross is California’s Blue Cross plan, and I’m an in-network provider for its behavioral health benefits. That means trauma-informed therapy and EMDR, often for just a copay, by secure video across California.
Using Your Anthem Blue Cross Plan for Therapy
Most Anthem Blue Cross plans (PPO, EPO, HMO, and many Covered California marketplace plans) include outpatient behavioral health benefits that cover individual therapy. As an in-network provider, I bill Anthem directly, so you’re typically responsible only for your copay or coinsurance once any deductible is met.
One helpful detail: some Anthem Blue Cross plans administer behavioral health through Carelon Behavioral Health. I’m in-network with Carelon too, so whichever way your plan is set up, you may be covered, and if you’re unsure which applies to you, I’m glad to help you sort it out.
Confirm Your Anthem Benefits
Call the member services number on the back of your Aetna card, often a dedicated behavioral health line, and ask the following questions.
Do I have outpatient mental health benefits?
Is my behavioral health handled by Anthem or by Carelon?
Is telehealth therapy covered the same as in-person?
What is my copay or coinsurance, and any remaining deductible?
Is Andrea Cabello, LMFT in-network on my plan?
Anthem Blue Cross Therapy FAQs
-
Yes. Most Anthem Blue Cross plans include outpatient behavioral health benefits covering individual therapy. As an in-network provider, I bill Anthem directly, so you generally pay only your copay or coinsurance.
-
Carelon Behavioral Health manages behavioral health benefits for some Anthem plans behind the scenes. If your plan works that way, your therapy claims route through Carelon rather than Anthem directly. I’m in-network with both, so either setup is covered. Your card or member services can tell you which applies.

In most cases, yes. Typically on the same terms as in-person sessions, so you can meet by secure video from anywhere in California. Confirm with your plan to be sure.

Yes. EMDR is billed under your outpatient behavioral health benefits like any other therapy session, so it’s covered on the same terms. Learn more about my EMDR work.
